MindMeld has pioneered the development of technology to power a new generation of intelligent conversational interfaces. MindMeld was founded in 2011 by Tim Tuttle. A former AI researcher from MIT and Bell Labs, Tim saw how recent advances in AI would enable breakthrough applications driven by natural language, touch and gesture. After 3 years of technology development and 10 patents, MindMeld launched its core offering, the MindMeld platform, in 2014. MindMeld is the first platform that makes it possible for companies to create intelligent conversational interfaces for any app or device. MindMeld has been widely recognized as a leader in the field of natural language understanding and was named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the "100 Brilliant Companies" of 2015 and by MIT Technology Review as one of the world's "50 Smartest Companies" of 2014.

Steph was raised in the East Bay Area, she received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and prior to MindMeld she worked as the Marketing Coordinator at AVG Technologies. She loves doing outdoor activities, seeing live music, and traveling. At MindMeld, Steph curates an inspiring environment, on-boards MindMeld newbies, and lends a helping hand wherever she can.
Liam enjoys keeping up to date with new technologies and trying out the latest gadgets. At MindMeld, he is responsible for business development, discovering new opportunities to integrate MindMeld’s technology into the customer interfaces of large corporations. Liam grew up in London and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Seoul National University, and prior to MindMeld, he worked in the business development team at Samsung Electronics. In his spare time, he enjoys swinging his golf clubs and tennis racket.
Lucien is a quantitative linguist and data fan, with research experience in topic detection, text segmentation, language variation, and the sound systems of a few endangered languages. He has bachelors degrees in physics and linguistics from UC Santa Barbara, studied computational linguistics at San Diego State, and just finished a PhD thesis in linguistics at UC San Diego.
Nan is a Product Designer who enjoys understanding people and designing useful and usable products for them. Before MindMeld, he worked as a Senior User Experience Designer at EPAM Empathy Lab, an award-winning digital agency, and has served clients such as NBC Universal, MLB, Nintendo, Sony Pictures, Televisa, Liberty Global, 21st Century, GSK, Wolters Kluwer, MetroPCS, and American Red Cross. Nan graduated from University of Michigan with a masters degree in Human Computer Interaction. In his free time, he enjoys soccer, travel, linguistics, and trying out new things.
As Director of Talent, Mel leads people operations and recruiting at MindMeld. Mel received her BA in English from University of Illinois, Chicago and then hightailed it to the West Coast to avoid the brutal Chicago winters. Prior to MindMeld, Mel was the tenth employee at Polyvore (acquired by Yahoo!) and built out the Talent function at Location Labs (acquired by AVG). In order to balance out startup life, Mel teaches and practices yoga, hikes with her two rescue dogs and enjoys homebrew made by her partner.
Marvin received his masters degree in Computer Science from Stanford University focusing on the study of Artificial Intelligence. He has experience in information retrieval and is excited to join MindMeld to make conversational search smarter. Prior to MindMeld, he worked at Oracle to build cloud-based enterprise search platform.
J.J. is responsible for front-end and mobile development at MindMeld. He received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University, where he was a member of the track and field team. Before MindMeld, J.J. was an iOS engineer at Clinkle, and a front-end engineer at Ooyala and Intermolecular. J.J. has a pending patent for his work at Intermolecular where he developed their iOS-based Mobile Workflow Manager experiment.
As VP of Business Operations at MindMeld, Michael is responsible for developing the company’s strategy and customer relationships as well as scaling the finance, people and office operations. Immediately prior to MindMeld, Michael held investment and leadership roles, including as Director of Digital Media & Communications Investment for Samsung Ventures America and as the founding Head of Samsung Ventures Europe in London, UK. Michael’s earlier work experience includes strategic partnerships, product marketing and software engineering at both large multinational corporations and fast growing startups. Michael holds a BS in EECS from UC Berkeley, MS in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, and an MBA from the Sloan School at MIT.
Hailing from the great state of Texas, Christian joins MindMeld for his first full-time role where he will contribute to the front-end development of our web tools. He is a graduate of MIT with an SB in computer science. Previously, he interned at Hewlett-Packard, Qualcomm Life and Factual, filling hardware, product management and web development roles at each stop. Outside of work, Christian enjoys going to the movies, playing pickup basketball, and watching sports.
Amrut is passionate about core technologies in Machine Learning and Large Scale Information Systems. He was previously with the Personalization Team at Netflix, and has prior experience building analytics systems at Meebo and Google. He received his MS from the Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University with a research focus on Event and Pattern Detection. Amrut is also an accomplished Indian Classical musician, and an avid follower of tennis and Dota 2.
Long fascinated with AI, Abe is excited to be at MindMeld. He has been a technical writer at General Cybernetics Inc and Google, and helped write the first certification exam for the Systems Modeling Language (SysML). He enjoys creating interactive, testable API docs, hanging out with solar energy people, and composing scores for obscure documentaries. Abe’s degree in music is from UC Berkeley.
Karthik has more than 10 years of combined experience working at reputed academic and industrial research labs on the problems of speech, natural language processing and information retrieval. Prior to joining MindMeld, he was a Senior Scientist in the Microsoft AI & Research Group, where he worked on conversational user interfaces for the Cortana digital assistant and the Xbox One.
Karthik holds an MS in Computer Science with Distinction in Research in Natural Language Processing from Stanford University, where he was co-advised by professors Daniel Jurafsky and Christopher Manning. He is a co-inventor on two US patents and has publications in leading AI conferences such as EMNLP, SIGIR and AAAI.
Outside of work, Karthik spends much of his time fundraising for charities through his graduate admissions counseling program. He also likes long road trips, hiking and listening to podcasts.
Arushi earned both her MS and BS from Stanford in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence as well as a secondary BS in Electrical Engineering. She has experience in deep learning and natural language processing and is excited to work on production level NLP applications. Prior to MindMeld, she interned at JauntVR, Microsoft, and worked on her own startup. Her hobbies include scuba diving, running, and dance.
Vijay loves building backend/machine learning systems and high-performance engineering teams. He earned his Computer Science degree from Harvey Mudd and worked at Box, Google, 20N Labs and Qualcomm. He is excited about the applications of AI to consumer products like chat bots and self-driving cars and wants to build products that can help automate mundane human tasks. Apart from AI, Vijay loves to meditate, contemplate the nature of reality and dance.
Juan is an expert in mobile software development and has built several iOS and Android applications from the ground up. Before MindMeld, Juan received two bachelor’s degrees from MIT where his work focused on control theory and artificial intelligence. Prior to MIT, Juan’s academic distinctions include placing first nationally and representing his country in the International Physics Olympiad competition.
Didi received a bachelor's degree in software engineering at Nanjing University, China, where he interned with eBay China in his senior year. He then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at Dartmouth College, where he was a member of Dartmouth DALI Lab and Grigoryan Lab. Didi's interests include software architecture design, server side programming, Web & Mobile development and constantly learning new stuff. Didi loves reading, thinking, writing, programming and whatever intrigues his 'little grey cells' as quoted in Agatha Christie's Poirot.
Anupam loves building scalable infrastructures and leading engineering teams. He has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. Prior to MindMeld, Anupam was at Bunchball, where he built the engineering team and the product from the ground up. When not coding and tinkering with gadgets, Anupam likes to travel and visit national parks.
MindMeld is the third technology company that Tim has founded. Tim started his career at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab, where he received his PhD. Tim has also served on the research faculty at MIT as well as Bell Laboratories. His first company built the Internet’s first large-scale CDN for real-time data. His second company, Truveo, built the web’s second-largest video search platform, reaching over 70M monthly visitors, and was acquired by AOL. Tim served as Senior Vice President at AOL responsible for the Truveo business unit. Tim is the author of eighteen technical publications and has been awarded several patents. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Harvard Business School Dubilier Prize for Entrepreneurship, and was selected as one of the 100 Top Young Innovators by MIT Technology Review Magazine.
Vishal graduated in 2011 with a Bachelors from UC San Diego. Before Mindmeld, he held a number of positions focusing in distributed systems design, cloud infrastructure and big data technologies. He is keenly interested in the social and economic impacts that fields such AI and robotics will have in the near and long term. Outside of work, he enjoys most outdoor activities ranging from sailing to snowboarding. He is also an avid Bay Area sports fan.
Minh-Tue loves being around smart, creative people where he can learn through osmosis. A native of Vietnam, he graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Math and CS. Before joining MindMeld, Minh-Tue had previous engineering experience at Google, Microsoft, edX and Box.com, but now he is back into his childhood dream of building robots and AI. In his free time he likes to go jogging, hiking in open spaces, but can be happy just sitting at the dock and reading a good book.
Jui-Pin has a Computer Science Master's degree from both Carnegie Mellon University and National Taiwan University. In addition, he also earned a double bachelor's degree of Computer Science and Economics from National Taiwan University. He is interested in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and related areas. During his free time, he loves playing badminton, watching TV series, reading, and traveling.
